A unique summer camp offering engaging academic classes in the morning and lively enrichment activities in the afternoon, SummerCrest camp is offered at the lovely Dixie Elementary School site. Each summer two 3-week sessions are presented. Classes are designed to foster student excitement and wonder in learning, and to bring out these same feelings in enrichment and outdoor activity programs. Classes such as archeology, tide pools, computer coding, computer game design, animation, art, outdoor games, are only a few of the SummerCrest offerings this summer. DETAILS: At SummerCrest each student is a valued member of our camp community. Team work, leadership skills, student confidence, mutual respect, and feeling of community are all components of our camp. We hold a daily assembly and bring students together for “campy” things like cheers, games, skits, as well as team building and leadership skills. Engaging academic classes, taught by credentialed teachers, strengthen student academic skills and help to prevent summer learning loss. Students entering Kindergarten or Transitional Kindergarten in the fall have a chance to become familiar with an elementary school setting and build skills which support a smooth transition to school in the fall. SummerCrest offers the total camp experience. Learning, laughter, fun, and new friendships are all part of SummerCrest. Extended day care is available.
My story from SummerCrest
By Isaiah Howards, grade 4, Mary E. Silveira School
At SummerCrest, you choose the classes you want and it’s mixed in with fun things like playing outside, making art, having parades and even putting on a fundraiser. One of my favorite classes is called Mystery Class, where we try to solve a murder. There are science classes, Social Studies and a class called Space Class where we studied the moon, the sun, Venus and Mars. The teachers at the camp are all very nice and they help you a lot.
The best part about SummerCrest to me is the friendships I’ve made. Every year there are new people who like to learn, have fun and meet new people! I can’t wait to go this summer.
