BY KIDS, FOR KIDS
FastForward is a publication written by kids, for kids. Our youth reporters are budding journalists and dedicated students who are fascinated by the world around them. FastForward provides a platform for students to conduct interviews and write about technology, entertainment, sports and business leaders and events in our community—sharing what they learn with their peers. We also engage in community-based media projects where youth learn new skills, creating media for FastForward and also benefitting other local non-profits. Learning the hardware and software of today’s media helps create citizens who can communicate and express themselves effectively in the 21st century.
Our mission
Our mission is to empower and teach youth the skills that will enable them to compete, create and impact their futures.
Awards
FastForward has won a State-wide Media Award from the California School Board Foundation and received the Golden Bell Award from the Marin County School Board.
Distribution
FastForward is distributed free through public and private schools in Marin County with a circulation of 25,000. Our print distribution combined with our online website (FastForwrdWeb.com) creates a readership of 40,000+ students, families, parents, teachers and administrators.
Youth Reporters
FastForward has been publishing kids’ writing for over two decades. Over the years, our aspiring student writers and reporters have interviewed many interesting artists, writers, musicians and more; learning that listening to others’ stories and experiences, successes and failures can change their lives.
Our reporters have interviewed Hillary Clinton, Diane Sawyer, David Muir, California Governor Gavin Newsom, Gary Sinise, Harrison Ford, Antonio Banderas, George Lucas, Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Abigail Breslin, Salma Hayek, Zac Efron, Jerry Seinfeld, Seth Meyers, Chris Rock, Ira Glass, Jack Black, Dr. Ben Carson, Carlos Santana, and players for the San Francisco Giants and Oakland A’s sports clubs—to name only a few. They have also conducted interviews with leaders and innovators at major companies, including: Airbnb, Facebook, YouTube, Airbnb, BuzzFeed, Pixar, LucasFilm, Skywalker Ranch, Google, Dropbox, reddit, The New York Times, The San Francisco Chronicle, ABC World News, CBS Radio, Change.org, CNN, Old Navy, Teen Vogue, VICE, Twitch, Whiskeytree and more!
